The capital of North Dakota, Bismarck, is also the art deco North Dakota State Capitol and is set on landscaped grounds. It is known as a Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail site and the Dakota Zoo home. It is known as the county seat of Burleigh County and the second-most populous city in North Dakota after Fargo.

Food and beverages from outside are not allowed, but the concession stand holds many different tasty snacks and drinks.

Dakota Zoo: The Dakota Zoo is one of the best family attractions in Bismarck. It houses more than 600 animals in a 90 acre-facility. Some animals include Bengal tigers, American alligators, arctic foxes, African tortoises, and Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs. In addition, the zoo features a viewing area complete with family-friendly tunnels for a close-up view, and the zoo's resident gray wolves can be witnessed from the top. The zoo also runs a program called 'Adopt an Animal' where you can adopt any animal. It is a fundraising campaign to make the zoo better, help to feed the animal, and take care of it.

Sertoma Park: Located adjacent to the Dakota Zoo, Sertoma is a riverfront park full of scenic walking trails and play areas. The park features eight playground areas that are a big hit with children and families. In addition, the park is perfect for taking a stroll, jogging, or even biking. Park visitors can often be found playing horseshoes, sand volleyball, or yard games. It is home to the Fish, Game, and Parks Department, the Outdoor Campus, the Butterfly House, and the Aquarium, where kids can learn about nature through hands-on classes, exhibits, and by exploring the nearby walking trails and ponds. In addition, Sertoma Park is connected to the Bike Trail and Nordic Ski Trail.

Gateway to Science: It is a fun, educational museum for all ages. The center features hands-on exhibits with themes like electricity machines, magnetism, light, and air pressure. It inspires visitors to take an interest in science and the natural world or think about a science/technology field career. It holds exhibits ranging from simple machines and robotics to advanced nanotechnology and even an actual human brain specimen. In addition to the regular showcases, the Gateway to Science Center also display many traveling exhibitions.
